Kindergarten
Box Hill Nth Primary Kindergarten is an integral part of a K-6 Government school.
Our kindergarten has a play based emergent program with philosophic links to Te Whariki - a developmentally and culturally appropriate framework originating from New Zealand that reflects the holistic way children learn and develop. The wider world of family and community is an integral principle of Te Whariki. Reflected in our philosophy is the belief that children learn best through responsive and reciprocal relationships. Incorporated into the early childhood curriculum is a three component transition program that operates for the entire kindergarten year and through the induction period and into the prep year. This transition program has been the basis of a Victorian Government grant to pilot a Transition: The Child's Perspective Program and is inclusive of all children attending our kindergarten - irrespective of which school they will attend in prep. We offer sessional kindergarten for ten hours per week with the opportunity for children who have deferred entry to kindergarten and/or school to be placed in the same group.
