BER/ESP UPDATE

  1. Our new Library and Learning Neighbourhood buiding.

Once built this will consist of a new Library, 4 classrooms, toilets and a number of office areas. We are being funded $2 million for this project. Once work starts it is expected to be built within 7 months.

How is the project progressing??

  • 9/11 - Utilities between the two main buildings is being worked upon in 3 stages. Stage 1 today between the Principals office and the old Library; Stage 2 tomorrow, just past the connecting breezeway to the Sculpture garden; then Wednesday, stage 3 to be done near the Gym.
  • 20/10 - As you can see from the dates there has been very little to report due to discovery of the soil being not  stable enough for the building. We were advised that a decision was finally made to place screw pylons (100 of these) in the soil with beams across these and that this would be the base for the building. This decision has been now been revised to use larger and deeper beams which will be placed into the ground for the base. There has been some work done in regard to placement of utilities (electricity) and this work is to continue in the next few days.

  • 19/08 Our Prep portable was moved today. Yay! It's possibile that Preps may be able to move back into their rooms as early as next Tuesday - I'll keep you posted.
  • 19/08 Site works for the new building will begin next week!

2.    National School Pride project.

This project involves building and extending a new deck outside our Art room in the North Building to provide an outside learning area during Art time for students. We are also beginning an upgrade to our Art facility, inlcuding new storage within the room and converting the current Parent Association room to an Art storage room. Other works related to the project include: restumping of this area and reorganisation of what is our current Library into one large flexibile learning area. This will include the ability to partition the area into two separate areas and involve the building of 2 new offices and storage room within. The one adult toilet we have in the North building will be converted to contain 2 toilets. We are being funded $125,000 for this project. It is expected to be finished by the end of December.

How is the project progressing??

  • 5/11 - Day 1 of work begins on converting the old Library upgrade into a new flexible learning space. The staff toilet , PA room and Library are now out of action for the remainder of this term, but work should be completed by December 20th!!!
  • 20/10 - Stumps were completed yesterday.
  • The contractor for the buildings works has been selected by School Council  - Shultz BuildingGroup. The building permit has been authorised and building works will begin shortly. The project will be  completed by             December 20th
  • At this stage our plan is to close the Library  as soon as works begin, hiring a container to store as many resources as possible that are housed in the Library
