Box
Hill North Primary School was opened in 1955 and is located in quiet surroundings
in Elizabeth Street, Box Hill North. The school community values the quiet,
safe location of the school. The school is situated on 2.5 hectares of
land, with expansive playgrounds and excellent facilities including modern
air-conditioned classrooms, an art room, LOTE (Japanese) room, library/resource centre and gymnasium.
A purpose-built performing arts centre, which has become a focus for
the school and the local community, was built in 2003. Our uniquely integrated
kindergarten program allows us to offer extensive programs for children
from 4 to 12 years old.
We value the continued growth of a co-operative, harmonious partnership between students, staff, parents and School Council, in order to facilitate our goals and high expectations of student achievement. Community participation is an integral part of school life with involvement in day-to-day school life, fund raising and social occasions, as well as school decision-making through School Council and other committees. Box Hill North Primary School encourages parent participation in children’s learning with involvement in active learning experiences including camps, excursions and school based activities – performances, sport, fund raising, special events and educational initiatives such as Classroom Helpers. Every Friday we hold a whole school Assembly where parents are invited to view weekly performances and be present for student awards. Every week, after this Assembly, parents and their toddlers are invited for a social 'cuppa' and yummy morning tea put on by our Parent Association. Parents and teachers maintain effective communication both formally and informally through information evenings, parent-teacher discussions and social occasions. more...
